Time and Speed in the Same Price Range
The setting is almost invisible, so the diamonds may fully express their beauty and brilliance. By overlapping diamonds and geometric grace the watch's designers created its three-dimensional form. They were inspired for the Duchesse by the cameo ornament that is often used in scarf securing. The triangular pear-shaped case reminds a brooch with the nine parallel strands of the bracelet. Four of the strands are set with baguette-cut diamonds and five of them with round-cut diamonds. The bracelet's strands may be compared to the scarf beneath a cameo, nicely accentuating the wrist's contours. The Duchesse bracelet has been handcrafted to reflect the "one stone, one link" principle. The Duchesse seems to become the incarnation of Harry Winston's dream to "attach the diamonds directly onto female skin". The artisans wanted to avoid any gaps between the gemstones. They set every gemstone in a "reverse pyramid" motif, so that the stones seem to be free-mounted. Each bracelet strand is independent, yet the strands are united symmetrically with help of the clasp press. The brand's artisan jewelers developed the claw, representing the screwed part closing the cameo back in an open-work pear shape. This way they allowed the watch's admirers to rest their eyes upon the interior of the timepiece and provided access to the time-setting corrector found on the case-back.The Harry Winston Duchesse houses a reliable quartz movement and offers the hours and minutes function.
Wyler Geneve Tourbillon - a Wonder of Shock-Protection
The third level of protection lies at the heart of the watch's movement. There is an aperture on the dial positioned at six o'clock that offers the view to the flying tourbillon. To provide maximum shock-absorption, it is fixed to aluminum bridges on two shock-absorbing springs. Thus, the tourbillon itself is suspended within the suspended movement while rotating on its own axis. It performs one revolution every 60 seconds, compensating for the gravity effects on the mechanism.Above the tourbillon cage aperture at 6 o'clock you will notice two important meters used as the reflection of the timepiece's accuracy. It creates a nice symmetry with the tourbillon cage. All the key elements visible on the dial, including the power reserve indicator, tourbillon cage, GMT dial and trust index, are surrounded by applied rings. They are provided with applied Arabic hour numerals around the edge of the dial and the applied letters forming the Wyler name. The dial features the individual limited-edition number of the watch. The front and back of the case are covered by anti-reflective scratch-resistant sapphire crystals. The Wyler Geneve Tourbillon's creators offered the choice between a titanium, 18K red gold or platinum models. The watches go with a natural rubber strap featuring the signature Wyler pattern. The bezel and case-back are fixed to the carbon fibre frame with help of titanium screws cushioned by small springs. This way the Wyler Geneve watchmakers developed a sandwich-like design used for leaving the movement suspended within the timepiece.

Review of the Highgear Enduro Compass Watch
Go back to the previous screen or Launcher category.Resetting Your Wrist PDAFor those of you who found this review by searching Google for "Fossil WristPDA reset" (I read my server logs, so I know you're out there), to performa soft reset, just use the stylus to gently press the reset button located on theleft side of the watch, just below the hinge for the USB port cover.Soft resetting your Wrist PDA will notaffect your data. Think of it as rebooting your computer. During the course ofthis review, I found I had to reset the Wrist PDA a couple of times because itstarted acting funky. A soft reset takes only a few seconds, and almost alwaysfixed whatever issue I was having (the only issue it didn't fix was the freezingproblem I described above). Before I explain how to perform a hard reset, note that all of you data and thirdparty applications will be deleted when performing a hard reset, so hopefully you'vebeen syncing on a regular basis. When prompted, press the page up (upperright) button to complete the reset, or press any other button to abort.System RequirementsI'm guess if your technology savvy enough to have found your way to this review, you'recomputer will more than meet this watch's system requirements, but just to be onthe safe side, here are the minimum requirements for the Wrist PDA as stated in themanual:Windows 98 SE, Millennium Edition, 2000 Professional, XP Home, XP Professional,or Mac OS X v.10.2.1 or higher.Pentium 233MHz with MMX technology (Pentium III 450MHz or better recommended).64MB of RAM (at least 128MB for Windows XP).800x600 display resolution with 16-bit color or better.150MB or more of free hard disk space.CD-ROM drive.USB port (use of a USB hub not recommended).
Omega Adds a New Bond Seamaster
Omega and James Bond have had a long and mutually profitable relationship. It used to be a Rolex Submariner that Q modified with non-standard complications and handed over to Sean Connery to get him out of tight situations, however starting with Pierce Brosnan in Golden Eye the Omega Seamaster became the choice of British spies. Omega seized the opportunity to not only make James Bond a brand ambassador, but they also created the special James Bond Omega Seamaster. Now that there's a new Bond, Omega has taken the opportunity to outfit him with a new tool: the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean.I've written about the Planet Ocean and handled several under the watchful eyes of jewelry store clerks, and they are truly majestic watches -- very fitting of Bond, and an excellent choice for a fresh beginning of the Bond franchise. What I find interesting, however, is that to my knowledge, Rolex never made a limited edition commemorative James Bond Submariner while Omega has released a couple Bond Seamasters. I'm guessing the idea of soldering a "007" to the end of a Submariner second hand, or adulterating the dial with some Hollywood inspired action graphic made the folks at Rolex swoon. Frankly, I'd have to be a pretty big James Bond fan to drop that kind of money on a movie souvenir, but I suppose if you're a collector, there's nothing like the phrase "limited edition" to get you on the phone with your favorite authorized dealer.
Fossil Wrist PDA Redux
A couple of weeks ago, the Department of HomelandSecurity and the FBI issueda warning to the Transportation Security Administration stating that al-Qaidamay attempt to use Casio watches with built-inaltimeters to sabotage US airliners. The idea is that since Casios are readilyavailable and very affordable, budget-conscious terrorists could modify aCasio ProTrek or Pathfinder so that it could detonate a bombat a specified altitude (I suppose you wouldn't want to blow up a Suunto,Tissot, or a Hamilton). According to Robert Shapiro, Director of LegalAffairs, Casio is more than happy to work with the DHS to help limitany potential threats:"We hope to have a meeting where we can help screeners with identifyingthe watch and understand how it's used, how it functions. I wonder what such a tool would look like, how it would function, and whata public service announcement from Casio about terrorists using their watches toblow up airplanes might look like. Anyway, I'm no security expert, so I'm happyto reserve judgment, and I would certainly prefer airlines err on the sideof caution when it comes to security. At the same time, I will also say that Istood in the longest security line I've ever seen this morning flying out of Oakland,CA. I travel a fair amount -- often out of Washington, DC -- and I've never seena longer, slower moving security line as the one I stood in this morning, evenright after 9/11. I don't know if watches had anything to do with it, but I suspectthat with each warning that gets issued, policies get stricter, and lines getlonger.
The TAG Heuer Calibre 360
Are there any accessories available for the nTren MP3 watch? nTren Sounds has recently announced an accessory that will allow you to playMP3s from your watch in your car wirelessly though the FM stereo. How much does the nTren MP3 watch cost?Prices range from around $199 to $295.Swiss watchmaker Tissot recently announced a new member of their Tactile line:the Navigator 3000. It has appeared as a blurry picture next to a "coming soon" teaseron their site for quite some time, but now the picture is finally clear, and somespecs and pictures have been published. Before I get into the details of the Navigator, I'd like to mention a few thingsabout Tissot Tactile watches in general. First of all, I happen to be wearing aT-Touch on on my wrist right now (detailed review forthcoming), and I love it. TheTactile line of watches allows you to navigate by tapping the sapphire crystal indifferent locations rather than pressing a mode button over and over. They are technicallyimpressive, classy watches, and I think the Navigator 3000 is a great addition.Features of the Navigator 3000 include:Tactile crystal to navigate through five modes and multiple time zones.World time (150 countries or cities).Countdown timer.Stopwatch.Two programmable alarms and five alarm melodies.Multiple date formats.Backlight to illuminate the LCD. The target market for this watch is obviously the traveling business executive, but I'd argue it packs a little something for everyone.
Rolex Watches Can Help You Elude Capture
An English language Greek news*** tells of three men who robbed a Rolex store inAthens yesterday. The gang posed as customers, then one man produced a gun whilethe other two stuffed their pockets with fistfuls of Rolexes. The three discriminatingthieves took off on foot, however the shopkeeper hastily enlisted the assistanceof a pedestrian who bravely pursued one of the men. Fortunately for our hero, hepicked one of the two thieves who had Rolexes in his pocket rather than the one withthe gun, so instead of getting shot, the poor guy had Rolex watches thrown at him.The ploy worked, and all three thieves managed to escape. (Something tells me if it were Timex watches getting lobbed through the air, at least one of these guys would be in custody right now.The nTren comes with a set of retractable earphones as well as an adapterto allow you to use your own. Why does it appear that the watch is out of space when I've deleted everythingon it?Try emptying your trash or recycling bin while the watch is connected. Otherwise, the files are just marked for deletion, but they aren't actually deleted. Thisis behavior we generally appreciate on large hard drives, however it doesn'twork so well on small capacity removable media. This has nothing to do with thewatch, but rather is a function of the operating system. What version of USB does the nTren MP3 watch support?USB version 1.1. What different styles does the nTren MP3 watch come in?The nTren MP3 watch comes with either a stainless steel bracelet or a black orbrown leather strap. The dials (the face of the watch) come in black, white,or silver, although I've recentlybeen informed that new designs are on the way. Storage capacities are 128MB,256MB, and soon, 512MB.

At the top of the multi-function dial at the 3 o'clock position is a small tide chart
Moving from right to left, it indicates local tide height based on latitude and the intertidal interval. Since tides vary with local geography, you can calibrate the watch to match your local cycle. What sort of globe-trotting person needs a tide graph? My personal theory is new managers who still surf, sail, or dive. I have a co-worker in exactly that role, and he really likes this Oceanus. Combined with the non-corroding titanium case and 100M water resistance, it can go from surfing to staff meeting and look great both places. At the top of the multi-function dial at the 3 o'clock position is a small tide chart. World time with time zone swapping (easily swap your primary time zone with your secondary time zone, and vice versa).Subtle date at the 4:30 position (nicely unobtrusive, but there when you need it).Retrograde day indicator in addition to the date. The solar panel is actually a ring around the dial, in a complimentary shade of silicon-chip blue. Functional, and simultaneously a nice design accent. The Oceanus 5 Motor Tide Graph is a good looking watch that does a nice job of hiding a ton of high-tech features The 5 Motor Tide Graph adds a few new features to its predecessor, the OCW600TDA-1AV:Multi-band atomic radio reception.Tide graph.Retrograde day indicator.Optional ion-plated black version (the one reviewed here is the silver-cased version).I really like the idea of removing LCDs from high-tech watches and dressing them up a bit, however there's no getting around the fact that usability tends to suffer. In a digital watch, for instance, the display more or less tells you what mode you're in, and since it changes accordingly, it keeps you well oriented. On an analog-only watch, however, it's trickier. Some of the mode indications are *** (as when the tide graph is engaged), but some are more subtle and require a bit of experience to get used to. In other words, if you want to use all the features of this watch, expect to spend some time playing and learning.
